On October 15th, the people of Switzerland celebrated with abandon, as the drill broke through the last piece of rock, finally connecting the two ends of the Gotthard Base Tunnel - The world's longest railway tunnel. The mammoth undertaking that cost about 10 billion USD took 2,600 workers, 12 years to accomplish - And, it's not done yet.

For a person who named their sticker 'Nerd', for something you put on your comment, the country is not Swiss. Its called Switzerland, the cheese and chocolate there is called Swiss. Haha, yummm Swiss chocolate is actually got to be the best chocolate I have ever tasted in my life.

12 years is actually long, but you have to remember that they are railing in the mountains of Europe aka The Alps. In the United States of America the railways usually took around 2 to 6 years. I am in the seventh grade in the Southeastern part of the US.
