The mundane act of getting a soda from a vending machine is about to get a lot more interesting thanks to PepsiCo, the makers of popular beverages like Pepsi, Gatorade and Mountain Dew. Their new Social Vending System will allow consumers to not only buy a soda, but also, send one, to a friend. All the sender had to do is to choose a soda, enter a name and phone number and the machine will send a text message to the recipient with a special code, that can be used to redeem a free drink at any Social Vending System, nearby.
