While the idea of harnessing the sun's energy for fuel has been around since the 1830's the impetus to use this free and clean source of power for commercial transportation seems to have accelerated lately. Just a month ago, the MS Turanor Planet Solar, became the first solar-powered boat to circumvent the globe and now, a single-passenger airplane has taken the green energy to the skies with a successful Intercontinental flight.

averyr약 13년Wow just WOW :) Sooooo kool- BellaAmigo약 13년That is one big plane! I can not believe it has been flying for a total of 20 hours but still had 95% of it's battery full! I hope Mr. Piccard would acheive his dream in flying around the world with the Solar Impulse! As technology advances, I believe we will be able to use eco- freindly power sources such as the solar power in everything! Another cool thing about the Solar Impulse is that it uses 0% petroleum gas! That is just too cool!!! I would want to ride that plane one day!!! - Donko약 13년Wow!!! This is like so amazing how is this even possible, this is very cool. I can not belive that when it landed it still had 95% of fuel left. This plane should go in commercial fast. I want to ride on it. I think it wil have a different feel on it, because it is going in 0% petolem gas. This is awesome.
