Columbus Day, which is celebrated annually on the second Monday of October to honor the Italian explorer credited with “discovering” the Americas, has always been somewhat of a controversial holiday. That’s because while Christopher Columbus stumbled upon what we now call the Caribbean on October 12, 1492, he never set foot on the mainland – even on his subsequent three journeys. Besides, North America had already been “discovered” by the Native Americans, who had been living there for many generations.

Harry, Columbus didn't know that he had discovered a new land. He actually thought that the americas were asia on every trip he took here. So don't be yelling that he slaughtered all the natives just to make people think he discovered it, though he did kill. The problem is with the people giving credit to an explorer who didn't know what he was seeing.

I think it doesn't really matter. Nobody celebrates Columbus day anymore.

Columbus day is FAKE. Columbus didn't "DISCOVER" America. The Native Americans did first. He slaughter them all just to make others believe he discovered it. Seriously, they should have taught this before they said Christopher Columbus discovered America. He really didn't. It's really sad that people still think Columbus discovered America. We need to know the truth.

.-. Seriously just go with the classical Columbus. Why change now, hm? Are you just gonna say no to Columbus because 'he enslaved many Native Americans' because some textbooks told ya so? Well, did you happen to know NativeAmericans invaded tribes as well? And there would've been dire costs if other tribes stepped foot on another's. Not to mention they harmed innocent fishermen 😑. Not saying they're bad, but just remember everybody has their bad sides. We should not change a holiday completely because Europe practically did the same thing as the Native Americans. The NA May have been here first, but they did not dare to build a boat and cross the other side of the world!
