131-year-old message in a bottle found in Western Australia (Photo Credit: Kymillman.com)

In mid-January, while exploring the white sands of the beach-side dunes just north of Western Australia’s Wedge Island, Tonya Illman came across an “interesting” bottle. Little did she know that inside the glass container lay an invaluable treasure — a 131-year-old note, the oldest message in a bottle discovered to date!

No, it wasn't from WW1 or WW2, it dates back to the 19th century. I cannot read German but I correctly assumed that it wanted the receiver to fill out some sort of application. ''Names Des Finders'' was a good indication too.

You are right ''Names Des Finders'' means the name the finder. And it was a sort of application.

i actually think it was to learn information about the person who found the bottle, then send it back to the person who made the bottle.
