When two German hikers stumbled upon a dead body buried in ice in the Italian Otzal Alps in 1991, they had no idea that the pristine remains were those of a male who had inhabited Earth almost 5,300 years ago. Named Ötzi, after the mountains where he had lain for thousands of years, the Iceman is Europe’s oldest-known natural human mummy.

- noonan약 7년It is sort of disgusting,but I'm really fascinated by this mummy.He isn't supposed to be only five inches,right.If he actually is,he'll be smaller than a hobbit.I really wish we had a time machine because than we can go back 5,000 years to see what actually happened.I wonder who shot him,he should have self-defence.

ajg16약 7년I think it was so cold it froze- bookstory14약 7년Yes, you are exactly right! In school we watched a video that explained it. Basically, he was between two ice slabs so the snow couldn't hit him. The snow just settled on him and didn't destroy him in the wind! It's so cool! --BKS
