The longest federal shutdown in US history has finally ended! At around midday on January 25, 2019, President Donald Trump and US Congressional leaders agreed to reopen the government, which has been partially shut since December 21, 2018, for three weeks until February 15, 2019. Lawmakers from both parties believe this will give them enough time to reach a compromise on President Trump’s $5.7 billion request to build a US – Mexico border wall, which has caused the lengthy shutdown.

- Snow6년 이상Honestly, we need the wall. People have been saying that walls don't work, but Israel has one and several other countries, and they're all working for them. While immigration is good, it needs to be attracted to the legal ports to restrict crime. I've seen the effects of illegal immigration, and the illegal gun, drug, and human trafficking that goes on between the US and Mexico is very sad. Illegal immigration costs us about 116 billion annually. For the 5.7 billion the wall costs, I think it's a fair trade. If we keep letting the crime go on, America will soon become unsafe for its citizens AND the immigrants who actually care. I hope the Democrats will be able to negotiate now that the shutdown has ended. This decision is critical to our country's future safety.
