Will Washington, DC, Become The 51st US State?

On April 22, 2021, for the second consecutive year, the US House of Representatives voted 216-208 to make Washington, DC, the nation's 51st state. Though the symbolically titled H.R. 51 bill is identical to the one passed on June 26, 2020, the legislation was never put to the vote in the then Republican-controlled Senate. However, this time around, the bill — which has the support of both President Joe Biden and Democratic Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer — will get a hearing in the upper house of Congress.

gold3nglare4년 이상I don't think it should be a state. I state within a state? Weird. Also, the population is equivalent to the population of an average city. Also, we can't have TWO Washington states! That's just my opinion.

jango4년 이상this most likely will not happen, if they want to add DC as a state they will probably have to make a Constitutional amendment. also when adding states the government tries to add an even number so the new state(s) don't favor one party, then why don't they also add one of the small territories (American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands), because all of those are mostly Democrats and guess what, DC is also mostly Democrats. so if the government added more states the Democrats would have an unfair advantage.
