Will Washington, DC, Become The 51st US State?

On April 22, 2021, for the second consecutive year, the US House of Representatives voted 216-208 to make Washington, DC, the nation's 51st state. Though the symbolically titled H.R. 51 bill is identical to the one passed on June 26, 2020, the legislation was never put to the vote in the then Republican-controlled Senate. However, this time around, the bill — which has the support of both President Joe Biden and Democratic Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer — will get a hearing in the upper house of Congress.

spookyraptor4년 이상No. Just please no. 50 is a too iconic number for the US, 51 would ruin everything. This would cost lots of money. They should be focusing on more important things, really. Washington DC is too small for a state. It would ruin a lot of maps, would interfere with other things, and more. This is an awful idea.
pig454년 이상Okay the reason the bill was created was because D.C has way to many people living in it. But they can not vote because they are not a state. The thing is it was not a state before because the republicans would not pass it because alot of Washington D.C is democrat. The passing of this bill would be essential to the voting system. For the republicans it means that the democrats will have more supporters. That and the republicans commit voter suppression anyway.
sokeefe_forever4년 이상I mean, usually to me alot of the Republican presidents help with things that are more necessary, but I'm not in either side. I would just vote for whoever had the best reason for wanting to be president and would actually help people. So even if they were democrats, libertarians, or Republicans, I'd give all of them a chance to win my vote. I can't vote for another 3 years tho, but still.
