San Francisco's public trash cans have long outlived their lifespan and need to be replaced. However, the current design is inadequate for the city's burgeoning population and the increasingly larger number of tourists. The garbage receptacles also get rummaged through by scavengers, who leave behind a mess. To alleviate the issues, in 2018, San Francisco Public Works officials set out in search of a perfect trash can. The quest proved harder than they had thought.

adroit_avimimus3년 이상This is pretty interesting! I never knew that a public trash can had to have so many aspects! I'm glad they have found the perfect design that is rummage-resistant, durable and easy to empty!! What's crazy is the cost though! $2,000-$3,000!! But in the end I guess it's pretty worth it because messes from scavengers don't have to be worried about and it makes a sound when full! That's pretty useful! But most importantly, it will help keep the city and the surrounding environment clean! Did you know the average United States resident creates over 4.9 pounds of trash per day and up to 56 tons of trash per year? That's a TON of trash! Literally! Did you also know Americans make up roughly 4% of the world's population, but generate nearly 12% of the world's total waste? Wowza! Anyways, I'm glad San Francisco found a better trash can!
unknown_user143년 이상I didn't know a trash can needed this much either! And wow, we really do throw away a ton of trash!
